-The big news is that I finally finished the 1st draft of a new script and I'm in the process of sending it out to various parties for feedback. Hopefully, I should be able to start on re-writes later this week and then start pre-production in ernest. As it stands, I'm mostly happy with the draft. I think the laughs go slack in the second half but that can be fixed with some punching up up. I'm happy with the basic structure and I think it's going to be a good showcase for the actor I have in mind for it. More as it develops.
- As you may have noticed, my post about Robin Williams a few days ago was shockingly brief and I kind of feel the need to explain myself.
I'm not good with death.
And I'm really not good with writing about it.
My mom passed early last year. I loved her dearly and I never wrote a full post about it because...well, mostly because right after she passed, my writing took a nose dive both in quanity and quality and I didn't feel up to the challenge. Even a year and a half later, I still don't feel like writing about it.
So the idea of writing about the death of a comedian/actor I never met, even as personally revered as Mr. Williams struck me as not all that personally appropriate in light of my not writing about my mom.
I'll be honest, I almost wrote a post about Rush Limbaugh's idiot comments about him. But then I remembered, oops, wrong blog.
And honestly, I don't think a thousand words from me can sum up my feelings about his passing better then this photo from Patton Oswalt and Harlan Ellison.
Although when Harlan finally passes, I have a feeling I won't be able to contain myself.
